Glasses, Rick is sick, Pickleball and Christmas lights

Goodness, it's been a while since I've posted.

Busy trying to get ready for the holiday and all the other stuff that happens in life.

I'm healed from the cataract surgery but still need a laser procedure to get rid of
the crinkle in my right eye.  I don't see well with the right one, even with the new glasses.  I picked up my glasses yesterday and am trying to acclimate to them.  Not easy.  I find myself taking them off like I used to do with reading glasses cause my distance vision is strange.  I think it hinges on the right eye.  Doc said the earliest he could do the laser procedure was March unless it was driving me nuts.  I'm going to give it a while, but I might just call and tell him that I AM nuts (of course the nuttiness is caused by the wrinkle/crinkle!).

Rick has not been feeling tip top for a few days and last night he came down with a good dose of a stomach bug.  He was nauseous but didn't vomit.  He ran to the bathroom all through the night and all morning.  I doctored him with Imodium (which we use with care, since it can be a difficult medicine to recover from for us) and it seemed to do the trick.  He's been a good patient and has been drinking as much as possible to keep from becoming dehydrated.

Pickleball is doing well!  We had a little Christmas/holiday party on Friday to celebrate and I came in 2nd place for the costume/dress up!  Christine came in first place and she really worked hard on her "get up"!  She's a competitive gal (on many levels) and she's fun, but she is seriously after me!  LOL

We got the outside of the house decorated with Star Shower lights and Star Shower Slideshow lights.  We like them a lot and have had a lot of people tell us how much they like them!

Bad eye makeup?

Well, here I am in all my BLACKened-eye glory.  I guess the anesthesiologist evidently did something to cause this, but the bruise doesn't hurt and should not impede my healing.                                                                                                                                                                       The eye is definitely tired and aches, but no sharp pains or anything to worry about.  Last night, between 2 eye guards to protect each eye and my c-pap, I didn't sleep restfully.  Tonight I have had a nice glass of sangria and am unwinding, so hopefully a better night's sleep is ahead of me.

I posted on Facebook that instead of telling folks who stare that I had eye surgery, I'm going to say I was in a bar fight.

Sleep tight.

Mrs. Crazy Eye!

Second (left) eye is now cataract free!  I had surgery about 9:30 this morning and now all I need to do is relax and heal.

I took a l.o.n.g. nap when we got home.  After a nice, long rest we left the house about 4 to vote.  We're back and I'm sitting here in my comfy chair and waiting for my guy to bring me some dinner.  He is so good to me, that's for sure.

Tomorrow I return to the doctor to have the patch removed and begin the regimen of putting drops in both eyes for a while.  Lots of drops, lots of drops!!

Busy Saturday

Busy day today.  I'm officially in my "nesting" phase of coping with things before an upcoming surgery.  I've done laundry, washed windows in the dining room, washed the sheer drapes and rinsed them in Epsom salts to be crisp.  We put away the cushions for the deck chairs, got tarps to cover the furniture for the winter, put away the fountains and moved plants.  I went to the store and picked up a few needed things and to tell the truth, I'm POOPED!

I bought food for meals for next week, but I'm just exhausted, so I won't be cooking tonight.  We called Dominos for pizza and will go and pick it up in about 15 more minutes.

When I was out yesterday, Cris and I bought some tart cherry juice as it's supposed to help you sleep.  I stopped taking diphenhydramine (generic Benadryl) to sleep as I read it can cause problems as you age.  Tonight I will have half a cup before going to bed.  Hope I sleep snug as a bug in a rug tonight!

Poor Richard and his needy wife Helen!! :)

Poor Rick!  I have a list of things I need from the store and errands that I need to run today.  I'm not confident enough to drive with my sight discrepancies, so guess who gets to take me where I need to go!?!  Yep!

Good news!  2nd day post cataract surgery is better than day 1 post cataract surgery.

As I got up this morning and got moving, things are feeling more normal in the right eye.  I removed my night-time-protective patch and noticed the vision was better than it was yesterday.  I put in the stinging antibiotic drop and it wasn't as painful as it was yesterday.  These are good omens!

I am still having some issues with depth perception and my eyes working in sync.  Kind of weird, but I am confident that it will be getting better.  Not worried.

Post cataract doctor appointment

The surgery is done!  I went to the ophthalmologist for my post surgery checkup and he said I'm doing well.  He explained a little about my surgery and what to expect.  Unfortunately, no pickleball for me until my next appointment which is next Wednesday.  I'm a little disappointed, cause I love to play; but with the lunging, stopping quickly and the possibility of getting hit in the eye, I understand it's in my best interest.

Here is how I went to my post-op appointment.  The staff was cracking up and the doctor said that in his 35 years of doing this surgery, I'm the only patient he's had do this:

The surgery

The surgery is done and I am home to rest, relax and be pampered.
