Ta ta...

I'm taking a little break. Going to stay away from the computer for more than a week. (I'm getting a little nervous...kind of like how quitting smoking must be for some.)

I'm sure it will be good for me as I'm going to be spending tons of time with the whole family.

I've cut out all my "Stitch and Split" applique blocks and I've set them out to take a picture to share. I'm really pleased with the flowers, they seem so fun to me. They are all safe in a plastic bag along with my needles, scissors and embroidery floss in the event I get time to sew on them while grandchildren nap.

As Mrs. Goodneedle says, "Life is good". See y'all in July!

I'm a slug!

LOL...It was raining when I got up this morning. Yep, thunder in the background. Nice sound to wake up to.

Kathy and I have walked each morning except this one. We agreed the other day that if we woke to the sound of rain we could stay in bed!
So...since I didn't walk, I didn't get dressed! It was nearly 5 p.m. before I got dressed today!! I'm such a slug!

"But I was busy!", she shouts in her own defense!!

I embroidered a golf towel for our friend Tony who has a surprise birthday party tomorrow. I cut out three more background squares for my raw-edge-applique blocks. I worked on Hadley's drag-a-long blankie and I made a pin cushion! I even tried on the swim suits I ordered for vacation, decided which one to keep and packed the others up to send back.

It's getting really dark outside and there is thunder in the distance again. Another storm? Mmmm... :)

Drag-a-long

I am making new drag-a-long blankets for three of the grandchildren. Little Nathan carries his almost everywhere and he chews on it!!! Kelly washes it often, but she would like another so that he always has a fresh one. As we all know, if you make one for one grandchild, you must make something for each grandchild; therefore, Anna's getting a new one too! Hadley likes a different type of drag-a-long, so I'm working on one for her, too.

Rick is on vacation due to the fact that he has time he must "use or lose". It's fun having him home. Yesterday we cleaned half the garage. We each had something to do in the afternoon, so we put off to today to finish. RAIN, RAIN today. Maybe it will let up and we'll work on it a bit later.

While it rained, I went upstairs and began cutting out a handwork project from this book,
Stitch and Split Applique.I so fell in love with the Ice Cream Roses quilt that Quiltdivajulie has made, but that pattern wasn't available at my local quilt shop and my gal suggested this book full of fun patterns for applique.

Time to watch a movie with the DH...Dark Knight is now playing in our comfy living room.

Family fun and giveaway link

I have Hadley for a few hours this morning, so this is a really quick post.

Evie is 6 today ... we'll have lots of fun at their house this weekend.

Happy Birthday EVIE !!

There is a great giveaway going on at Lauren Nicole Gifts. She's giving away a Vera Bradley tote bag. Always fun to go to her blog.

Recuperation

I am feeling better today. I slept like a log last night! Rest sure helps. Yesterday I felt very tired, I hurt and I was unable to sleep. Thankfully today is a better day.

Teresa asked about Flying Geese in the Forest Block of the Month quilt blocks. Here are a couple of pictures of the blocks I have done so far. I'm really behind on this, but I'll get caught up as soon as I'm feeling better.

My next block is all cut out and that feels good to have accomplished a bit today.

I won't be sewing the next blocks together soon; the getting up and sitting down, getting up/sitting down is tough right now.

Tomorrow maybe I'll do a little more cutting of pieces for the next block. Also, I have a raw-edge-hand-applique pattern all picked out and might do some fabric selection from my stash.

I really like hand work, so if I get it cut out I can take it when we go on vacation. Sitting by the pool with a small hand project sounds like fun to me...but with the grandchildren around I wonder how much sewing I'll get done. They are so much fun to watch as they play and do all their cute things!

Our passports came yesterday...the whole family's! We are all ready (well, my mind is ready, but stuff isn't ready) to roll. We have never been on a vacation with all the kids and grandkids, so I am so looking forward to it.

Thanks in advance

Today is a big day in our family.

Grandson Nathan is having surgery today to release his tongue from the floor of his mouth. This surgery will make it easier for him to speak and maneuver food in his mouth. He's a sweet, beautiful child and I pray for our Lord to guide the surgeon's hands, to ease Nathan's pain and allow him to recover quickly. May Nathan's guardian angels surround him and keep him safe and comfortable.

I wish I could be there to help my daughter and her family, however...

I too have surgery today. It's "maintenance" and the 3rd time I've had surgery on this ol' bladder. I have confidence in my surgeon and as much as I hate to have anesthesia, I will be fine.

Your prayers for Nathan would be very appreciated.
