I bought CBD oil today

My sleeping has been horrible.  Today I went to Mustard Seed Grocery Store and the person that sells the CBD oil was very informative.  I bought the mid-strength oil in the mandarin orange flavor.  I have instructions on dosages and she also gave me a sample of the ointment for pain.

I am interested to see how this pans out.  We'll see.

THURSDAY?? Already?

Gosh, the week is flying by!

Lemme see...I posted on Monday and not since then.  Yesterday (Wednesday) I went to my sewing room and straightened up a bit.  Then I cut all the pieces for my Moda Blockheads 3 sew along.  I believe it's block 5 and it's entitled Magic.  Lots of half-square triangles and thought I would work on that for a bit.  No sewing done as yet (even today I didn't sew), but I will probably get to sewing it this weekend.

Tuesday...well, I don't have any idea what I did on Tuesday!!  LOL

Today I threw in a load of laundry, got cleaned up and had lunch with Terri.  We went to Wild Goats and lunch ran from 11:20 when she picked me up at my house until about 2:15.  We always have so much to talk about!

After lunch I threw in another load of laundry and got to thinking about what to have with dinner.  We were having pork chops that I bought at Aldi and they were good.  They would have been better if I had breaded them and baked in the oven.  Instead, I fried them.  I am not so fond of them that way, but they were ok.  I made Stove Top stuffing for Rick and I had cauliflower casserole as my side dish.

I'm now sitting in my nightgown, slippers and bathrobe with my Lily on my lap as I type my entry.

Both of our daughters called late this afternoon and it was super to hear from them.

Tomorrow is Friday which means my day with Cris.  No estate sales were in the paper, so I'm not really sure what we are going to do.  We'll find something!

Bright and beautiful Monday

Here we are on the last Monday of February 2020.  It's a clear, bright and sunny morning and it's not too terribly cold either.  It's now 41F and is supposed to go up to 46F or so.  Can't ask for much more than that!

Yesterday was the baby shower for Ashleigh Vargo Bonina for little Cooper Everett who is scheduled to arrive in April.  The bibs and burp cloths were a hit and that makes me so happy.  Kelly's handmade gifts were also loved and appreciated.

This is Cris, Ashleigh and me.  Also photos of Ashleigh opening my bibs and burp cloths.  Also Kelly's gift of knitted booties, hat and blanket.

The photos below are of the blanket and taggie blanket that Cris made with my help.

The bibs and burp cloths are done!!

What a busy day!  This morning I finished the bibs and burp cloths.  I spent so much time and effort on these, I sure hope they (the parents) like and appreciate them.

I worked on the "LOVE" paper pieced block for the Moda Blockheads 3 sew along.  I was doing fine, then my brain "jumbled"!!  I have the L, O, V portions done, just have to do the E.

I cooked sausage and will be making quiche tomorrow. Then I cooked the bacon I had on hand.  Then I mixed up the bone stuffing mixture for Sophie's bones.  Then Rick and I went to Marc's and picked up a few things we needed.  I came home and made Egg Roll in a Bow and put in a meatloaf for Rick's dinner.  I put away the cooked sausage and bacon.  I was pooped and my back was aching badly.

Dinner was good,  Rick liked the meatloaf and little potatoes and my Egg Roll in a Bowl was delicious!

These photos are of the blanket, booties and hat Kelly made for the baby shower.  She can't attend, so she sent them to me and I will take them to the shower tomorrow.

Day off from sewing

Well, I took today off from sewing.  I've been "frantically" sewing bibs for a baby shower that is this Sunday.  I somehow got jumbled on when the shower was, so I got behind.  I have several bibs "near finished", but have some more work to do.  I am going to finish topstitching tomorrow and will install the snaps, then toss them in the washer and dryer.  I also made some burp cloths and will probably make a few more.  I will just serge the burp cloths.  I bought a bag and card today, so I'm pretty set to have them finished.  Will post a photo when they are done.

Kelly sent me a package to deliver to the shower.  She made a darling little blanket, hat and the cutest slippers/booties ever!!  I will post a photo later of her things.

Today I went shopping with Cris.  Our things/places done/visited below:

1.  Lenscrafters to get my glasses adjusted (sore, sore nose) and it turns out I needed to get a new pair of glasses...these aren't suitable for my nose.  Things went well there, the guy was even nice to me.
2.  Went to Sam's Club and bought frozen riced cauliflower, Havarti cheese, mixed nuts and Oreo cookies.
3.  To a tag sale in Montrose/Fairlawn/Bath area.  A giant house with so much "stuff".  They had so much stained glass--it was so beautiful.  Way too expensive for me.  It was an amazing sale and it was fun to see everything.
4.  Lunch at Zoup!  Delicious French onion soup and a cob salad for me.  It was an o-so-delicious lunch!
5.  Giant Eagle for Cris to try and find cheese curds - nope, they didn't have them
6.  Lane Bryant for me to see if bras were on super sale.  Nope, not on sale
7.  Acme for Cris to try and find cheese curds - nope, they didn't have them
8.  TJ Maxx to look around and enjoy the store.  I bought some shelves for our fridge...I think I like them.  I still don't like our new fridge.  "Wahhhhh"
9.  Cris got a call that her ring was in at Jareds and we were just across the street.  We went there and her ring was NOT there, they were mistaken!
10. I took Cris home.  After dropping her off at home, I went on to go to:
11. Dollar Tree to get a card for the shower and a gift bag
12. Aldi!  I bought some different types of cheese, some delicious-looking pork chops, ground chicken, frozen sea scallops and some breaded shrimp.  Good haul!
13.  HOME!  I unpacked my things I bought, installed the shelves in the fridge (I believe I really like them) and then Rick called...asked me to meet him for dinner!  We went to Longhitano's and I had meatballs...Rick had a patty melt.
14.  Back home.  Got into my jammies, gave the furry kids their treats and made a cup of tea.

Day is done, gone the sun
From the hills, from the lake, from the skies...
All is well, safely rest
God is nigh

Busy day, new "do"

Today was pretty busy, but nothing too bad.

I ran to Marc's and picked up things I usually buy there.  I came home, put things away and then drove off to have lunch with Marty and go to our hair appointment.  We shared crab cakes at a place called the Iron Grill which is just around the corner from our hair salon.  Here's my new "do":
After dropping Marty off at her house, I ran to Joann's to pick up some flannel for the bibs I'm making.  I was going to buy the rest of our groceries that we need, but called home and Rick said he would go with me.  A win!

I got home and we took off for Walmart.  As we were leaving the store, I called Buffalo Wild Wings and ordered take out wings.  We ran home, put away the groceries and then off to pick up the wings.  After dinner, as usual, it was Sophie and Lily treat time!  Then, I got my nightie on!  Now to relax and enjoy the evening.

We've returned!

We had a marvelous week in Cancun, Mexico!  We left home on Friday afternoon after dropping Sophie off at her home-away-from-home kennel.  We drove to Pittsburgh and spent the night at the Marriott Courtyard near the airport.  It was snowing that day, but we didn't have a bad time driving.  We had a great evening and night at the hotel and the next day, the hotel shuttle drove us to the airport for our flight.

We arrived in Cancun about 3pm on Saturday, February 8 -- our anniversary.  It was in the mid 80's and the sun was beautiful.  We boarded our shuttle to the hotel and checked in without any issues at all.  We didn't have the nicest villa, but the next day they moved us to a ground floor villa right near the pool.  Ahhh...so nice.

I will tell more about our vacation, but for now, here's a couple of photos of what 51 years of marriage looks like.

Sleep cycle(s)

I seem to sleep in cycles of good sleep and poor sleep.  I'm currently in the midst of a poor sleep cycle.  I got so tired yesterday that it seemed I "hit a wall" and could hardly get out of my chair.

Today after running some errands, I came home and did a little bit of necessary computer things and said to Rick, "I could use a nap!".  He said, "Go ahead" and I did!  I slept for about 45 minutes and then took another half hour to fully wake.  I feel better.  I don't usually nap, it's hard for me to just sleep for just a short time.

We had freezing rain and are going to have some snow overnight and into tomorrow.  Hopefully it's not horrible, we will just have to take our time tomorrow.

I found a pair of sunglasses for Rick that are the darker color that he wanted.  I didn't return the first ones, I will have to take them back later on.

We're having pizza for dinner and it's out of the oven, just cooling for a couple of minutes.

The grandkids got their Valentine cards and money.  Annabelle was the first to say thanks, then Hadley and Treva Facetimed with us today!  (They didn't have school today due to ice in their area.)

Wednesday!

Today is Wednesday and Moda Blockheads Round 3, Block #4 came out today.  I decided to do the littlest block this time, it will finish at 4".  Not sure I'm really enamored of my effort, but it's done and I'm ok with it.
Lindsey and Inez are coming to soon to check out what needs to be done for Lily while we are gone.  Lindsey has the flu. Poor Lindsey.  This is the second go-round their family has had with the flu this year.

We had leftovers for dinner.  I finished the roast beef and carrots, Rick had Italian sausage sandwiches with green peppers and onions.  The rest of the roast beef and carrots were made into topping for Sophie's next two breakfasts.

We went to the store(s) today.  We got Rick a KSU t-shirt to use at the beach for a coverup and we both got new clip-on sunglasses.  We also got Lily a couple of new toys.

Time to sign off for tonight.  G'night.

Busy

We packed our suitcase!  Never before have we been packed this early!  When our vaca comes, we just need to put in our toiletries and we are ready to roll.

I called Monica and firmed up dates and times for Sophie's stay.  I double checked with my sister and she's all ready for bringing Sophie home for us.

I ran to the store and bought another pair of black capri leggings.  These have a pocket (I LOVE pockets).  If they had another pair, I would have bought them, too, however only one pair was in stock.

I dropped off a long shoehorn to Butch...he has a red one already, but now he has another one.  Kathy called me and asked me to try and fix a zipper on a backpack for her foster daughter, so I went and took care of that.  It was fun talking with her..her life is so full of "stuff"!!  With two teenage boys and foster kids and a husband, her life is kinda crazy.

We got chicken for Pony Express for dinner.

Tomorrow is Wednesday and Moda Blockheads 3, block #4 will be released tomorrow.  I hope to get a little time to sew tomorrow.

Pickleball, Fiddlestix and O'Charley's

Great day!

This morning I went to Walmart to get cat litter, to the bank to get money to put in the grandkids' valentine cards and to the post office to mail packages to Reba, Kathleen and the cards to the kids.  Here, to the right, are the valentine cards sent to each of our beautiful grandchildren.  (Along with $5 tucked inside!)

I ran home and then left again to go to pickleball.  I played pretty well and after pickleball we (all the players that were able to) went to Fiddlestix for a drink and pool.  I didn't play pool, I chatted with folks and enjoyed myself.

Butch, Cris & Jerry along with Rick and I went to O'Charley's for dinner.  We had fun and laughed a lot.  Next week it's Cris' choice and she said they are going somewhere GOOD!  We won't be able to go, so they will go somewhere GREAT and we can't go!!

Goodnight and sleep tight,

Helen

02-02-2020

Palindrome day!

Boy have I been busy and productive today!  I patched Rick's bathrobe (the fabric had a weak spot) and then threw it in the laundry.  Then I went upstairs and finished the Valentine's Day cards for the grandkids.  Then I cut out the Moda Blockhead Block #3.  I sewed part of it together and thought I was done sewing for today.  I got a roast on to cook about 1:00, I picked up the house a bit, I got the extra litterbox (for vacation) ready to set up later.  I went back upstairs to sew a little more.

About 4 pm I finally got dressed!  I had been in my nightgown nearly all day!!

I got my Garden Flag Swap flag and gift ready to send.  It's all wrapped, just need to get an envelope from the post office tomorrow.  I also got my Pay it Forward gift ready to send.  I wrote notes, wrapped the gifts and then put the gift in a plastic bag and taped it shut; I also made mailing labels.    Tomorrow I'll swing by the post office, get a bag and will send things off.

Roast beef, carrots, potatoes, onions and homemade rolls made up our dinner.  It was delicious.  After dinner we watched the Super Bowl.

Just after halftime, I went back upstairs and finished the Moda block.  I'm tickled with the end product.  Cutting, starching, matching points and pressing then trimming took forever, but just look how cool it looks!

It's been a great day. Oh!  By the way, we had sunshine today!!

G'night...H

February! February 1, 2020

It's hard to believe that it's February!  We've had a pretty mild winter so far, but February often proves to be a rough-weather month.

I've been busy today.  This morning I had a lunch date with Darcy.  We went to Scribbles and talked for about 2.5 hours.  Near the end of our visit, I needed to use the restroom (badly) and hurried to the ladies room (actually the only restroom) and turned the knob, opened the door and there was a man!!  I was embarrassed and quickly exited, pulling the door shut and apologizing.  I waited outside the door and when he came out, I again apologized.  After I thought about it a moment, the guy should have LOCKED the door.  It was his fault.  I came out and told Darcy and we cracked up!!  She's fun and interesting to talk to.

After coffee, I rushed home, did a few things that needed to be tended to and then raced out of the house to run a few errands.  Yesterday the cat peed in Sophie's crate.  I have a foam mattress in her crate and I tried to wash it.  It didn't work, the foam disintegrated in the washer and I had more mess to clean up!  (Damned cat.)  I had more foam, so I cut that, and made another mattress for her.  In the meantime, I pulled her crate out, cleaned the floor and the accumulated dust and I was working so hard and I was so cranky.  Anyway, I got all that done, got the washer cleaned up the rest of the way this morning and threw out the foam.  I was at an estate sale yesterday and they had a foam mattress pad, so I went back today to buy that for future use, but that cat better not do that again.  I ran to the store to buy a few things we need and then back home.

Rick took down the Christmas tree and hauled it upstairs.  I wrestled with things upstairs and got all that stuff put away.  I (again) was not in control of my emotions and was frustrated at all I had to do.  I need to work on being calm and not getting angry about things I have to do.

I think we are having DiRusso sausage for dinner and roast tomorrow (Super Bowl Sunday).  I want to sew a little today or tomorrow.

Sigh...I have to go to the store to buy peppers and onions and rolls for sausage.  Damn!  I wish Rick would do some of the running around.

Enough writing today.  I need to take some photos to post of here, it's more interesting later if there are photos to view.
