Thursday thoughts

Last night the Budweiser Clydesdales came to Kent. We went downtown to see them; what gorgeous creatures they are. Our friend Bobby and his two childen came with us as his wife was at a girls' night out. We got there a little late and didn't get to see them coming out of their posh mobile stalls and getting harnessed for their trip around town, but we stayed long enough to see them getting undressed and back into their travel accommodations. The picture to the right is of Barley the dalmation.

I am having some problems with pain. While on vacation I was fine, but upon coming home, something has happened with my right knee. It hurts. Behind my knee seems to be the main pain; I can walk, but I need to be careful. Last night while downtown my right leg (thigh) became numb and my hips were killing me. I can tolerate pain to a degree, but I don't want to think that this is going to be my "norm". I think I need to bring this up to the doctor at my next visit unless I can't wait that long. I know I'm getting arthritis, that's been confirmed via bloodwork, but at the time of the diagnosis I was told it wasn't rheumatoid--which my mother suffered with for years. Last night I took Tylenol PM and slept very well. I went for my morning walk with Kathy and my knee was great. Now that I'm home I took my medicine and added Tylenol (am) and will try to take it a couple more times today to help keep the pain at bay.

Ok, enough of the whining, Mimi...let's think ahead to fun stuff.

We are going to go to the Italian Festival this weekend. The Clydesdales are going to be there and I do love to see them. Maybe I'll even get a chance to rub a nose and maybe take a carrot or two to see if the handlers will let me give a treat!

Today is lunch with a friend from work. Our "Friday Nurse" Pat is coming to pick me up and we'll have a great time visiting. She's such a hoot! We'll laugh and talk, and hopefully even solve some of the world's problems! (We are very good at that!)

I bought some batiks yesterday to make a quilt for my niece Kathy (who turns 40 this month and I spoke of this in an earlier post). I saw a tutorial by Ricky Timms and think I'll make it. I'll post a picture while it's in progress and when it's done. I got some lovely fabric, that's for sure. The project is a quick and easy one, but it's very pretty. I think Kathy would like it. (In the event she doesn't, she can give it back to me!!)

Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your may blessings, You have given me an incredible life. Please look after my loved ones and guard them against evil and help us all to grow closer to You with each passing day. In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen.

  1. The horses are such beautiful animals and the Italian Festival should be so much fun.

I'm sorry to hear about your pain. I hope that it is only a temporary issue for you.

If the quilt is not adored I am sure one of us would love it!!!!!

  2. I am so sorry you are having problems with your knee. I once tore a miniscus and the pain sounded a lot like what you are going through. All it took was turning my knee a little funny getting out of a van to do the tear, so it doesn't take much. Be careful and do ask your doctor about it. The picture of the horses and dalmation are great.
